Item Description

Here's our friend Maxwell Mays at his best, portraying a Rhode Island memory in art accompanied by a few words that explain his motivation for creating the work.

This is Jamestown 1900. And Max explains why Jamestown/Conanicut is high on the list of islands of special enchantment. Reasons include "great-grandchildren returning to the diamond sparkling waters", "arguing seagulls and the salt air". Max notes the area depicted remains surprisingly unspoiled and that it should make "a patchwork memory of sunburn, chowder, clam cakes, and happy laughter and maybe a distant bell and fog horn..."

Donated by Holland's Gallery and Framing, Warwick, RI, this is signed print #579 from an edition of 1,000.
