Item Description
Rhode Island artist and educator Rapheal Diaz has donated this signed, artist-retouched serigraph. It's Pisto con Acompanamiento by Wayne Healy. (The Title translates Pisto With Sides. Pisto is a Spanish vegetable dish similar to ratatouille.)
Healy is credited with launching the Chicano Mural Movement. He and David Rivas Botelho (with whom he collaborated on a third-grade art class mural project called "Dinosaurs"!) founded the East Los Streetscapers in 1975. The Streetscapers was one of the pioneering groups in Muralism.
Healy still lives and works in East LA. Besides murals, he and the Streetscapers have moved into multimedia, sculpture and tilemaking.
Item Special Note
This framed and signed serigraph measures 24"H x 30"W.
