Item Description

The winning bidder of this auction item walks away with the delightful book, Stories from the Hen House, written by one of Austin's pioneering urban farmersCarol Ann Sayle.

In addition, the lucky winner receives a $15 gift certificate to use at the farmstand, and also receives the much coveted hot sauce made by Larry Butler--Boggy Creek's other pioneering tiller of the soil--that uses locally grown organic tomatoes straight from the farm. You can taste the goodness in every jar.

Item Special Note

Carol Ann and Larry began their "back-to-the-farm movement" in 1981, farming land in Gause, in Milam county, as a weekend adventure, but by 1991, the couple decided to follow their dream full-time.

Thus they began farming the Milam county farm, growing cool weather crops (carrots, lettuce, broccoli, etc.) and hot weather crops (tomatoes -- lots of tomatoes! -- squash, cucumbers, etc) which they sold at a small farm stand on a street corner near their home.

In 1992 they bought five acres in East Austin, and with the Gause property, Boggy Creek Farm, and history, were made.

Winning bidder must take possession of book and hot sauce and use their gift certificate by November 12, 2011.
