Item Description
This is Hay Cart, an original watercolor by artist Ethel Groff of Newport, RI. It depicts a scene at Middletown's historic Prescott Farm.
As a young girl in New York City Ethel made weekly trips to the Metropolitan Museum, deepening her appreciation of fine art. This led to art lessons under an enviable list of masters in both New York and Newport.
Ethel's original training was in oil painting but more recently she has specialized in watercolors. Her work won her a commission to paint the winning house in the Newport in Bloom competition and she has several pieces in both the Newport Hospital's collection and the Newport Art Museum's Art on Loan program.
Item Special Note
This matted and framed watercolor measures 17"H x 21"W.
