Item Description
GITC has been exploring ways to connect the teachers working in the schools within the reservation, and the teachers working in BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) schools. These 2 populations have often felt like they were working across purposes. We find that making music together helps dissolve those barriers, and brings the teachers together for the benefit of the children - no matter where they go to school.
If you've ever spent time on a reservation, you're probably aware that people are for the most part living very leanly, and that any contribution goes a long way towards improving quality of education and life.
Our 1st Nations Pilot Program is currently in its second year on a Navajo reservation in New Mexico. We look forward to sharing the work with other 1st Nation groups in the years ahead. Your contribution can make that happen sooner.
