Item Description
This full-sized billboard poster is saved from the 1968 Oregon campaign (which McCarthy won). It might be suitable for a rec room wallpaper or a good luck sign on a barn. I will ship
I, like many students at the time and place (Eugene,OR 1968), were involved in the McCarthy campaign. The spontaneous organization of volunteers was like something I've never seen, at least in the dooorbelling of Eugene and environs. A good friend of mine (Gene Hogan) was very involved in organizing Oregon at the state level. After McCarthy won the primary, and after Bobby jumped in in California, we kept a bunch of materials for the national race. This included many campaign buttons, posters and several extra unused billboard-sized posters which had not been mounted. I took a job in Bellingham in 1970 and the billboard went with me and has been stored in my the attic for these 40 some years.
As for size, I believe it is a full sized billboard advert. I googled it and found standard size to be approximately 10' X 20'. This sounds about right to me. Only once did I open it up and lay it out. The picture I sent is of that time and has me laying on the ground beside it for perspective. I am a bit over 6' tall. I would guess it weighs about 15 lbs. The panels are folded together with no creases. The paper and coloring is in excellent shape -- no exposure to dampness or light.
I don't have sufficient spece to spread it out. It is rainy season here. I trust these dimensions are close.
Item Special Note
Union printer bug intact.
Fairly heavy porous paper suitable for pasting up on billboard. Probably about the thickness of good wallpaper.
