Item Description
Two wonderful handcut reverse applique pillows, measuring 14" x 14" each, in white with black appliques of vines and flowers and a whimsical black bird. These charming pillows are donated by The Fat Finch, a Boutique for Birders.
Handcut reverse applique is an exceptional skill which is highly representative of Hungarian craftsmanship. In a country which has centuries old handcraft traditions, this technique turns wool felt into a piece of textile art.
The design is created by an intricate process of machine sewing from the reverse side of the fabric. This is followed by cutting out the top layer of wool felt with tiny scissors.
Art and history come together to create this stunning piece of handcrafted artistry.
