Item Description

5'4" Quadfin Handcrafted Hollow Wood Surfboard from Walk on Water Surfboards

Walk on Water Surboards began with two brothers’ quest to build a wood surfboard for their Pops. Through research about wood surfboard construction, Lance and Jesse discovered Wisconsin native Tom Blake and his hollow wood surfboard design. Blake’s innovative design modified surfboards forever, enabling lighter boards with better performance characteristics.

The hollow wood surfboard is constructed from wood and epoxy, utilizing a central stringer and perpendicular ribs to create an interior fish bone skeleton. This structure creates chambered air pockets, increasing the board’s buoyancy. This allows the rider to stand on the board, even on flat water, creating the illusion of walking on water.

Today, Lance and Jesse update the classic hollow wood surfboard model, aided by computer software and motivated by eco-friendly consciousness. They obtain reclaimed wood through local carpentry and construction contractors. If non-reclaimed wood is used, it is purchased through local, sustainable lumber yards.  This business model allows Walk On Water to contribute to the local economy, and further reduce their (and your) carbon footprint.
