Item Description

A two-plus day sailing trip for two people aboard the private yacht "Quinessential", a 37 foot 2007 Tartan docked in Sandusky, Ohio. The boat will be skippered by the owner or a skilled sailing instructor. On day one, arrive at Sandusky by 5 PM to become familiar with the boat's systems, safety, and operations. The orientation will be followed by cocktails on the boat and dinner in one of Sandusky's better restaurants. Spend the night in a nearby B&B or on board. The Quinessential has air conditioning, cable TV and wireless internet connection while in the marina. Depart Sandusky in the morning and sail around the islands of Kelly and South Bass. Have drinks and dinner at the Axel & Harry's Restaurant in Put-n-Bay on South Bass Island. (This is the best on the island, but the competition is modest.) Spend the night aboard the boat in Put-n-Bay or an island motel, your choice. The skipper and crew (if any) will not stay on the boat to provide you appropriate privacy. The boat may be docked for the evening or on a mooring ball in which case the water taxi will take you to and from the shore. Sail the waters of southwest Lake Erie or Sandusky Bay on the second day, perhaps sailing to the charming port of Vermilion. Lunch will be provided on board both days. Alternatively, if the winds are favorable, we could sail north to Leamington, Ontario the first day and return the second day assuming the high bidder's party have current passports. In either event, we should return to the marina at roughly 5 PM on the second day.

Item Special Note

Must agree to mutually convenient dates; week days are often best because of the less crowded harbors. If adverse weather occurs, the skipper reserves the right to modify or even postpone the trip. Safety is paramount! Guests must have sufficient agility to safely move about on a heeling sailboat in choppy waters. Also, the guests will be encouraged to assist with sailing and docking, and will learn the features of a modern sailboat. The owner is willing to have more than two guests aboard if the successful bidder pays the marginal costs. Also, the owner is willing to consider modifying the trip plan if the guests have other preferences.
