Item Description
Second in the series by MAAN, a collaborative group of three artists under contract to other publishers at the time. The pseudonym was chosen from Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing in protest of the commercialization of the art world where name recognition and signature had become more important than the art itself. The artists portray a receding field of gradated balloons being inflated by a man with a head in the shape of New Mexico. An artist-signed "fine art" edition (without lettering) was released this year. A fine art edition would not be published again until the 20th anniversary of the series in 1998. Published as a limited-edition serigraph in an artist-signed edition of 500 numbered prints; an unsigned edition of 5,000 numbered prints; and a fine art edition of 300 artist-signed and numbered prints. 20" x 30". Numbered 2516/5000.
