Item Description
Print from political cartoonist Stephen Pitt.
Stephen Pitt was born in Long Beach California, the son of an engineer and an artistic mother. Since childhood, he found pictures far more compelling than any other means of communication.
His work is influenced by Henri Matisse, Giorgio Morandi and Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, combined with a strong personal vision. He studied at Art Center, College of Design and California State University at Long Beach, where he graduated in 1975. Stephen has been published in two disciplines, political imagery and photography.
Politics became the singular force driving Stephen's art today, realized entirely by digital painting techniques. His background and abilities express in powerful compositions that obey technical criteria and aesthetic sensibilities combined with lyrical content distilled to the simplest, most direct state of presentation.
