Item Description

Would you like to meet an otter or a woodpecker up close? - learn about how they live? Join Amy Workman and Ann Rivers for a 2-hour private tour and educational program getting to know some of the animals that are living and recuperating at the Acadia Wildlife Foundations' rescue center in Town Hill. This winter's current residents include a river otter, hairy woodpecker, cormorant, vulture, albino red-tailed hawk, bats, and snapper, box and painted turtles.

AWF has been serving the area (from Belfast to Lubec) for 15 years. Orphaned young or injured wildlife are brought in by state wardens, park staff, customs boats, and the general public for rehabilitation and hopefully release. A few animals are kept as fosters for incoming patients and as educational animals. For the most part, they include turtles, hawks, vultures, bats and an otter.
