Item Description
Famille rose decoration for porcelain developed in China around 1720. Creating famille rose ceramics involved both technical and artistic innovation. Chinese potters discovered new sets of color shades that allowed them to experiment with other enamels that could be painted on to porcelain after its first firing in the kiln, and then fused on to the surface by a second firing at low temperatures. This opened the world of porcelain to brighter hues and broader artistry.
This Famille Rose Bowl with fish and sea plants comes direct from the Jingdezhen kilns. Approximately 10 x 10 x 5.5". Includes silk brocade gift box. Handcrafted in China.
