Item Description
This beautiful pottery from San Juan de Oriente, Nicaragua, was hand-thrown, etched, colored with mineral oxides, and fired in a brick kiln at a low temperature. The jar with lid stands about 9-1/2" high, with a 3-1/4" diameter at its mouth and a 9" diameter at its largest point. Eight indigenous women are etched in relief, in blue and red dresses, to encircle the jar. The jar is ideal for dried flower arrangements or as a stand-along piece of art, but is not suitable for holding water or food.
