Item Description

Size: 10in x 10in framed

Media: Italian and French vitreous glass, millefiori

Artist Statement:

“Bird of Paradise” is one of my favorite African flowers and with this mosaic I tried to capture the vibrancy of her colorful petals.  While following the interesting tilt and coloring of the stalk I came up with the andamento for the background.  Looking at the mosaic now, I discovered there is something of a bird-like shape.

I am a German mosaic artist and I love to work with all kinds of materials, sometimes my art tells me what to use.  The inspirations for my mosaics originate from nature or while I’m looking at my own photographs.  So far I have studied with B. Rodi (Germany), Martin Cheek (U.K.) and Giulio Menossi )Italy).
