Artist Statement:
Mosaics completely fascinate me. The process of integrating tiny pieces to make a pleasing whole is a never-ending challenge and delight. In life, each experience adds new aspects for growth and development; creating a full range of maturity, so each tesserae contributes texture, light and meaning to the piece. “Dragonfly” is a particularly dear subject to me. In Japan, they symbolize courage, strength and happiness. Each time I see a dragonfly, it reminds me of the fragile beauty of life and the strong desire to live fully in each exquisite moment. My hope is that the sale of “Dragonfly” will enable Doctors Without Borders to continue their mission of global medical relief. Caring for others is a high calling requiring the courage and strength of the dragonfly in moments of joy and happiness.
