Artist Statement:
In German “aufbrechen” has many meanings; one meaning is “to break open”. Here I want to show the feeling of breaking open old structures. The white breaks open to reveal the color inside, red, as another point of view, another opinion. The red points are also breaking through the white surface, like flowers or grass through the earth. It is worth looking under the surface of something, or a person. “aufbrechen” also means “to start”… not to stay at a point; to go your own way (the red line), to develop something new.
“aufbrechen” was made in 2010 and has been exhibited at Gaital Art Symposium, Rattendorf, Austria
