WINDSOR  MOUNTAIN  INTERNATIONAL  SUMMER  CAMP

In a quiet and pristine corner of America, Windsor Mountain International Summer Camp has created an extraordinary place for children.  Every summer over the last 50 years, thousands of children from the United States and countries around the globe have come to Windsor Mountain to live and play together in a unique and magical place where friendship, creativity and community thrive.  Windsor Mountain is a non-competitive camp that stresses the importance of trying new things, learning and improving skills and respecting differences among people.  Our incredibly warm and talented American and international staff have a wealth of experience mentoring children.  Windsor Mountain’s private 365-acre camp is located on a beautiful, private lake, and surrounded by a pristine 1,000 acre wilderness preserve.  Our surroundings offer the perfect setting for a classic summer camp experience away from home for campers ages 8-15.  In addition to traditional activities, Windsor Mountain offers unique and creative activities that our staff and campers create on a daily basis.  We also offer specialty programs in sailing, visual arts, performing arts and film-making, as well as 3-day wilderness trips.  Our international and domestic travel programs provide authentic experiences involving community service, leadership, language development, cross-cultural understanding and fun.

FOOD: We take food seriously at Windsor Mountain. Andre our Jamaican chef who has run our dining hall for the past three summers, prepares meals that rely on locally grown ingredients as often as possible. We bake our own bread and supply fresh fruit and snacks as well as salad and vegetarian options for every meal. The salad bar offers a variety of vegetables and fruits, some of which the campers themselves have harvested. We also work closely with campers to accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies.

HOUSING: Girls finishing grades 2-6 live in the TREEHOUSE, a two story dormitory-style building. Each dorm bunks six to eight girls with counselors living in attached rooms. A few steps away, the bathroom contains toilets, sinks and hot showers. On the other side, an expansive deck connects to a cozy library where campers can spend rainy days or simply quiet hours.

Boys finishing grades 2-6 live in CABINS that bunk seven to ten boys. Each cabin has running water, toilets and sinks. Hot showers are just behind the cabins, and a fire pit in the cabin meadow makes a wonderful gathering spot.

In the nearby white pine grove, the TENT UNIT houses older boys and girls finishing grades 7-9, campers in our Leaders in Training program, and their counselors. Students live in Bungalows (new in 2010), Adirondack-like shelters called “Shirondos” and in canvas tents on raised platforms. All are rustic and have lights and electricity. A nearby wash center provides sinks and toilets and hot showers are nearby as well. A tent pavilion with a fieldstone fireplace offers a group gathering place.
