Item Description

Winning bidder will receive one week of Dexter TENNIS Campgood for any camp week during the 2011 summer season (June - August). Bus service from area towns is included!

In a delightful country setting on the campus of Dexter and Southfield Schools, minutes from downtown Boston, the Camps are centrally located on the Brookline-Boston line, a short distance from Routes 1 and 9, directly across from Larz Anderson Park.
The Dexter-Southfield Tennis Camp, for boys and girls ages 7 through 14, is designed for children who have never played before, those who have significant playing experience and plan to play tournaments or play on their middle or high
school team, and all skill levels in between. Half-day and full-day programs are offered.

The Tennis Camp uses the Thorndike Center, an indoor athletic facility with four synthetic courts, movable nets, and practice boards. Other indoor facilities include a fitness center, indoor and outdoor practice “mini” courts, athletic fields, swimming pool, and the Clay Center for science and enrichment activities.

Camper Groups

During registration, you will have the ability to provide information about your child. We use this information to help determine the best starting point for him/her. We also do an initial evaluation on the first day of camp to establish starting points for all campers. Our tennis program model is dynamic in that children are not placed in single stagnant groups. Instead tennis activities are introduced in a variety of formats which allow each camper to progress at his/her own pace. This allows campers to improve their game more quickly, while staying engaged and excited with the various activities.

Instructor to camper on-court ratio

Our program model is dynamic in that we constantly adjust tennis activities to fit the needs of the campers. Thus, we do not maintain static instructor to camper on-court ratios. In some instances there may be one on one instruction taking place with certain campers and instructors, while in other instances there may be larger groups of campers participating in certain tennis activities with an instructor. In all cases, the program is geared to accomplish the most tennis benefit for all campers while maintaining high energy and excitement, and minimizing idle time during the course of the program.
