Item Description
Mr. Kris Kringle
HERE’S LOVE
1963
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas when you have a teddy bear dressed to the nines as Santa Claus – or Mr. Kris Kringle – as he was called in the 1963 Broadway musical, Here’s Love. Based on the film Miracle on 34th Street, Mr. Kringle only dons his Santa Claus outfit near the end of the show, but it’s pretty clear what his identity really is. Naturally, our Santa-bear’s suit is made from red velvet and features faux fur trim and a leatherette belt. His boots are custom designed from real leather to keep them dry in the snow, while his bag full of toys is made from black cotton. Character actor Laurence Naismith played Mr. Kringle on Broadway, co-starring with Janis Paige and Valerie Lee as the mother and daughter who eventually learn that there really is a Santa Claus.
