Item Description

Miss Prism. Miss Cardew’s governess
THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST
2010 Revival

Romantic, repressed and in love with the country priest, Miss Prism really could be the heroine of a Victorian novel, but instead she is The Importance of Being Earnest’s buttoned-up, smarty-pants schoolmarm who takes her secondary role as educator and governess very seriously. She likes to use big, fancy words and always has something to say even if she makes it up – womanthrope? As an unmarried woman in a society obsessed with marriage, Miss Prism makes her job her identity. It gives her some status, when she normally would have none. And our Miss Prism bear holds on to that touch of class and station in this recreation from the current Broadway revival. She is all business decked out in a green-and-black plaid wool skirt below a cotton blouse. Her vest is black striped wool with a brass buckle closure. She is certainly dressed to impress. Outwardly cold-natured but definitely comedic, Miss Prism will melt your heart when you get to know her.
