Item Description
Witch
INTO THE WOODS
1987
“It’s the Last Midnight, it’s the last wish.” With a giantess on the loose and everyone in the town scrambling to place blame for the curses brought upon them, the Witch forces them to look deep within themselves to find it. Bernadette Peters sizzled in her dress and cape in the original production of Into the Woods and this bear recreates that magical moment. Our bear wears a dress of purple silk charmeuse under dyed burnout silk with a charmeuse stomacher. Her cape was made after hours of research to recreate the process used on the original, including hand-painted “branches” on the lining with a blood-red stain soak. The outer layer of the cape is red silk dupioni with a hand-beaded collar featuring red and gold glass beads, and fire-polished purple beads to match the dress. Under her dress she sports black tights and leather Can Can boots. The finishing touches of this “wicked” bear are the Witch’s gold necklace with red jewels. Bernadette’s infamous curly locks were recreated by hand to give our Witch bear the authentic look of a real Broadway legend. She’s not good, she’s not bad, she’s the Witch! And when she speaks, everyone listens.
