LEND ME A TENOR
2010 Revival
As the wardrobe supervisor for the show, bear designer Karen Eifert was able to use many of the original costume fabrics chosen by the show’s costume designer, Martin Pakledinaz. Otello’s brocade coat is lined in a glorious gold silk and covers a black velvet doublet. He also wears a basic cotton shirt with pumpkin-colored tights under the gorgeous velvet outer layer. Otello’s necklace is made from a gold leather trim accented with faux rubies and pearls. Even the ribbons that frame his doublet are remnants from recent Broadway productions. Thanks to the gold appliqué closures, all of this loveable bear’s clothing is removable, because he couldn’t be a true icon of the theater if they weren’t.
Broadway Bear designed by Karen Eifert
with the assistance of Frederick Longtin (boots) and Amy Micallef (face and hair)
