Item Description

A Scottsboro Boy (Finale)
THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS
2010

Gather ‘round folks and learn about the remarkable, history-making journey of The Scottsboro Boys, a daring and entertaining final collaboration by musical theater giants John Kander and Fred Ebb. The show, directed by Susan Stroman, is based on the notorious "Scottsboro" case in the 1930s in which nine African-American men were unjustly accused of a terrible crime. The story is told through a minstrel show with several actors portraying a variety of characters and two-time Tony Award-winner John Cullum serving as the interlocutor. Our Scottsboro Bear dons one of the Boys’ formal attire including a black wool tuxedo tailcoat with white piping and red lining, which covers a white pique-fronted tuxedo shirt with black shirt studs and red satin bow tie. The bear also sports a white pique vest with jet black Swarovski crystal buttons. The bear wears shadow-striped tuxedo pants with white suspenders and black patent leather shoes with white pique spats. To top off the outfit, he has a black felt top hat with red satin ribbon. This Scottsboro Bear even has a bendable wire frame inside so he can be posed. And in one hand, he has a 10-second recording of the cast singing “The Scottsboro Boys.”
