Item Description

This Schumann piano has a "Zolatone" textured finish and the case is intricately carved and detailed. The Piano Techinicians Guild worked on this piano to make it playable for guests of OC Can You Play?, but this piano should be purchased primarily for decorative purposes and light playing only.

Tom Brown’s painting on this piano features a panoramic scene of the citrus groves for which Orange County was named. The art style is similar in feel to nostalgic Orange Crate Art popular in the era when the Citrus Industry was in its heyday. Originally from the Midwest, Tom Brown began his art career in advertising while also selling fine art paintings through galleries. His first solo show was a virtual sell-out, and encouraged him to leave advertising and pursue fine art full time. During 2008 and 2009 he hosted a TV art instruction show on ICTV/30. The series was filmed on location as he painted various Orange County landscapes en plein air. For the past ten years he has taught workshops for other artists through the Irvine Fine Arts Center.

For more than 20 years Tom's paintings have been sold through galleries nationwide as well as online. His work is in numerous corporate collections, including several 5-foot-wide landscapes that were commissioned by the City of Irvine. Those paintings are now on permanent display in the lobby of Irvine City Hall. He is a former president of the Orange Art Association and past member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and Southern California Plein Air Painters Association. Tom Brown lives in Irvine, California with his family.
