Item Description
From Greenwood Ridge comes one case of their 2009 Sauvignon Blanc. The floral, apple-and-melon fruited Semillon fills in the open spaces of the flinty Sauvignon Blanc, with it's fresh grass, tart lemon, and hints of tobacco. A touch of French oak lends the spice of graham toast and elegant creaminess to the texture. The Greenwood Ridge 2009 Sauvignon Blanc is from Meyer Vineyard, Anderson Valley, Mendocino County, California. Aged 100% in French oak, barrel-aged for 5 months. Bottled April 6, 2010, released in January 2011. Only 500 cases were produced. Since 1980, Greenwood Ridge Vineyards has developed a reputation for producing award-winning estate bottled Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, White Riesling and Late Harvest White Riesling. In addition to their estate bottled wines, they have also developed a following for their Sauvignon Blanc, made from grapes grown near Boonville in Anderson Valley, and Zinfandel from the 95-year-old Scherrer Vineyards in Sonoma County. Greenwood Ridge Vineyards has been named one of America's top 30 wineries by Wine & Spirits Magazine three times in recent years and they continually receive Best of Show awards at major wine competitions. The vineyard locations on Greenwood Ridge and in Anderson Valley contribute enormous character and style to their wines. The particular soils, sun exposure and maritime-influenced climate combine to give their wines extraordinary richness and classic varietal style. In-depth information on individual wines can be found under "wine" in the "current wine" section on their website.
