Item Description
2006 Gnarly Head Cabernet Sauvignon 3.0 L
Aromas of black peppercorn, cranberries and blackberries lead in this dark, bold Cab. A wave of juicy currants breaks on the palate followed by hints of violets, earth, cloves and bay leaf. Supported by solid tannins, the flavor lingers like a long, smooth ride on a perfect wave.
This crowd pleaser is great at a party with spicy meatballs or strong cheeses, but it’s equally comfortable with dinner for one or two with steak, lamb, fire-roasted vegetables or hearty lasagna.
The 2006 Gnarly Head Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted using grapes from specially selected vineyards in Mendocino, Paso Robles, Monterey and Lodi. The Cabernet from each area adds a unique aspect to the Gnarly Cab. Mendocino Cab adds tannin and structure. The Paso Robles Cab adds a layer of jammy, ripe black fruit. The Monterey Cab, from our San Bernabe vineyard, contributes nuances of spices and herbs. The Lodi Cab is from an eastern area long known amongst California winemakers for its ability to fully ripen Bordeaux varieties. This east-side Lodi Cab delivers the dense, juicy core for this Gnarly Cab. Petite Sirah and Malbec from Lodi fill out this wine by adding juicy fruit, violet top notes and round out the voluptuous body. The finest California appellations and a selection of Bordeaux grapes create this Gnarly Cab.
