Item Description

Toad Hollow Vineyards began operation in 1994, with 3000 cases of 1993 Russian River Valley Chardonnay. It is a collaboration of two old friends who, more or less, retired to a an existence of peace and quiet in the Hollow after a life of whirlwind travel. Neither of these two gentlemen believed in self-denial, and over the years had probably wined and dined in every major eatery and watering hole in the universe. As the two old friends had in common a love of good food and fine wine, they agreed whatever the plan, it must honor food or wine. With Dr. Toad's infamous years in the restaurant business (and whose wife was adamant that he never return to it) and Mr. Badger's keen palate and exceptional ability to make stellar wines, the two decided they would pioneer the making of world-class wines at affordable prices.

Our mission is to produce quality wines that are interesting at a reasonable price. Our labels are whimsical, supporting another element of our philosophy - we believe drinking wine should be FUN!

This auction item includes 3 bottles of Toad Hollow Chardonnay and 3 bottles of Toad Hollow Merlot.

The Chardonnay is 100% Stainless Steel fermented, using no oak at all. The vineyards used are 90% Mendocino County and 10% Sonoma County. Alcohol is 13.76% but..... due to the balance of Fruit vs. Acid, you don't taste the "heat".

The Merlot is a gentle but sinuous noble red wine that welcomes company with a warm generosity of taste as well as the versatility of filling many sensory needs on several levels. It is a wine that will cellar and age beautifully for ten to fifteen years but also sports the spontaneity of a young thoroughbred raring to run now or carry easily into the next decade.
