Item Description
Join me at my farmhouse in Windsor for a 2 hour experience for up to 3 people, starting with a guided tour of the lavender garden with much discussion as to how I grow it, and harvesting/picking.
Then we'll go into the kitchen and I will show how to make a meal featuring lavender...starting with lavender lemonade, lavender black bean dip, lavender salad dressing over field greens (some of which we will pick from the gardens) and a lavender smoke infused meat or other main dish...all depends on what I'm cooking and anyone's food allergies.
About Valerie Allgrove: I live in a 1910 farmhouse in Windsor that I'm renovating and have surrounded with extensive gardens.
My home gardens concentrate on herbs for cooking (especially lavender!), native perennials for low-maintenance gardens, and tropical orchids that I grow outside in the summer, and in my heated back porch in the winter.
I started growing tropical orchids in February of 2000 and have been very active with the Connecticut Orchid Society. I have over 100 orchids, and am especially interested in Cattleyas, Stanhopeas, and other fragrant New World varieties.
