Item Description
This is an unusual and one of a kind item! This is a set of two decks of playing cards, owned and used by Sergei Rachmaninoff (celebrated pianist, composer and conductor), with his initials on the back of each card.
The cards were donated originally to the Red Cross Fiesta by Mrs. Rachmaninoff shortly after her husband's death in 1943. The cards were purchased at the Fiesta by Mrs. Fritz Kreisler, who gave them to Luella Gatz of New York City in 1944.
Luella Gatz gave the cards to Mrs. Lambert Cadwallader of Philadelphia and Colorado Springs. Finally, Mrs. Cadwallader gave the cards to Donald P. Jenkins (conductor, Colorado Springs Chorale) in the late 1970s for his personal use.
These cards have an estimated value of a MINIMUM of $500; the starting bid is less than half of that. Bid high, bid often to get this amazing set!
