Item Description

Shanghai, known as the shining "Pearl of the Orient" will be your destination for a six-day, five-night getaway in one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in the world.

Two round-trip airline tickets will fly you to this bustling metropolis on the estuary of the Yangtze River. Shanghai hums with palpable energy- with its mix of modern and historic, East and West- Shanghai is a blend of honored traditions and contemporary conveniences. Known for its rich history, lively nightlife, delectable dining, and heavenly shopping, there is always something for everyone to do.

If you are an unabashed shopaholic, then Nanjing Road is your gateway to pure shopping bliss. Known as the "Oriental Paris," you will find stores and fashion to fill your closet full of excellent finds and haute couture. Included in this lot is a half-day of shopping with bilingual residents, Todd and Shelby McKea, to aid you in your excursion, as well as lunch at a gourmet Shanghainese restaurant for 4-6 people.

For those who are culinary inclined, you will not be able to ignore the delights of Shanghai's cuisine. All manner of restaurants and street food are available- Shanghai is a veritable foodie's dream (don't forget to try Shanghai's famous soup dumplings, or xiao long bao)!

A trip to Shanghai would be incomplete without a stay at a true Shanghai gem, the Okura Garden Hotel, in the area of the city known as the "French Concession." The Okura Garden Hotel has European-inspired Art Deco features, guest rooms elegantly furnished with silk wallpaper and European-style furniture, and houses both French and Japanese style restaurants which are known for their excellent fare.

The spirit of Shanghai in the 1930s is still strong in the "French Concession," and especially at the hotel. At the Okura Garden Hotel, you can feel the intersection between East and West, and imagine singers crooning in the rooftop bar, now called Ye Lai Xiang, which still has its old band shell. The domed pavillion, now found in the garden, used to sit atop the roof, where dancers would kick up their heels under the starry skies. Surrounding your hotel in this popular tourist district are excellent shopping opportunities, dining spots, and appealing architecture.

Limitations: Winning bidder will receive five "accommodation cards" each valid for a one-night stay in a standard room with breakfast in the Rose Coffee Shop at the Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai. Applicable to two persons, subject to room availability, not applicable to cash redemption, and valud until December 31, 2012. Lot includes two economy round-trip tickets to Shanghai, China. Tickets do not include taxes and space is limited. Shopping trip in Shanghai is only valid until December 31, 2011.
