Item Description
Have you wondered whether you could add solar panels to your house or somewhere else on your property? Would it be worth the cost? How many years would it take to recoup your investment? Here is your chance to have answers to all these questions.
Rainshadow Solar, Orcas Island's own solar experts, will come to your Orcas property and do a full site report including identifying the optimum site and the estimated monthly output from a Solar Electric system at that site. They can also give you a bid on the installation.
John Mottl, the chief of Rainshadow Solar, makes the case for solar this way:
"I view solar electric systems as income producing property. Properly done, these sytems would have a 20% return on investment for the owner. Current feed-in tariffs in Washington State allow the owner to receive six (6) times what OPALCO charges (this includes the power consumed within the home!). This combined with all federal subsidies results in a five year simple payback on the cost of the system, and the subsidies are in place for a minimum of the next ten years."
