‘The Memphis Horns’ are the most recorded horn section in American popular music! The Horns have been seen and heard live in concert by millions. Wayne had his first hit record in 1961 at the age of seventeen. In it’s more than 70 year history, Wayne is the only horn player to ever have performed on the ‘Grand Ole Opry’.
On June 9, 2006, the Musicians Hall of Fame opened in Nashville, with a special Memphis
section, which includes an exhibit dedicated to Wayne and his career. On July 23, 2006,
Wayne was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to music
history at the Porretta Soul Festival in Porretta, Italy. Wayne and his wife Amy own the
musical publishing company ‘Sweet Medicine Music’.
