Item Description
August Brown, new kid on the block, finds more than he bargains for when he follows the ragbag lady to mysterious Pineapple Place. Here, on a quaint cobblestone street of cheerful houses, live seven invisible - except to August - children from another time. Before he knows it, August and fantastic new friends have embarked on the adventure of a lifetime in the nation's capital!
Anne Lindbergh, the daughter of famed aviators Charles & Anne Morrow Lindbergh, died in 1993. She is remembered in the words of Publisher's Weekly as "an author of literary grace and a mesmerizing storyteller." The "Anne Spencer Lindbergh" prize, awarded bi-annually for children's fantasy, is a testament to her skill as an author, lover of literature, and of children's education. (She also taught at nearby Riverside School in Vermont!)
This hardcover copy is lovingly inscribed for our auction by the author's sister, Reeve Lindbergh. Reeve is a noted author in her own right, and lives near our school in Vermont.
