Item Description
Erica Svec is a Brooklyn based artist who celebrates the energy and radiance in everyday objects: including trash, graffiti, the lost, the discarded and the spilled. All of these things are represented in her mixed media on canvas work "Untitled," 2002. Finding delight, beauty and mystery in the things that others cast off, Svec reassembles the seeming jumble into small still lives such as "Untitled" 2002, which she uses as the basis for larger painted compositions. Her work has been exhibited internationally—most recently at the Larissa Goldston gallery in New York City, where she is represented. The Whitney Museum of American Art recently acquired one of her prints for its collection.
