Item Description
Peggy
It's Spring!, July 2010
"Spring in Texas, in my back yard. And the front too. There are violets, the blues. The yellows are sunflowers but they don’t look like sunflowers because I didn’t put legs on them. And I have a dog - a little bitty dog. I just made one little bird but these trees are filled with birds. I feed them.”
Item Special Note
Peggy is an artist in Memories in the Making®, the Alzheimer’s Association art program for people with dementia.
Painting with watercolors restores a way of being creative to people who have lost other avenues and brings the joy of self-expression to those who are losing the ability to communicate with words. The artists’ stories, told while painting, become part of the work, forming a unique portrait of that individual in that moment.
Introduced to North Central Texas Chapter in 2009, MIM has brought the joy of creative self expression to hundreds of residents of 30 long term care facilities in eight counties.
