Item Description
This auction item is for 1 16 oz. jar of McClure's Creamed Clover Honey (great for spreading on English Muffins), and 1 12 oz. Honey "Bear" - also Pure Clover Honey.
Now, depending on where you live, you know the name McClure's means great tasting, high quality honey and syrup. But if you live up near our school or in Monroe, Lisbon, Littleton, or any of a dozen other North Country towns, you may know the name for a bit more. That's what makes this donation to our auction catalogue special to us.
You see, several generations of school children in northern NH and Vermont learned to play in marching bands under the direction of George McClure. George would go around from school to school, not only teaching instruments but also marching and discipline. George's bands competed in national competitions, and even travelled to Washington D.C. to perform.
Eventually, George's son, Dave, turned the family hobby of raising bees and boiling maple syrup into a business - one that has grown today to national distribution and widespread recognition. You can visit their website here.
There's really still a McClure's Alumni Band that plays in St. Johnsbury & Groton, VT; Monroe and Woodsville, NH, and lots of other towns in the area. They don't 'march' anymore - but they still sound really, really good. And they all remember George.
Item Special Note
Winning bidder responsible for shipping or for pick-up in the St. Johnsbury area.
