Item Description
Item Special Note
Plants with small leaves that can adapt to a small space in a hand blown sensual vessel that can be nurtured in to a Lilliputian world of natural beauty; that’s the 21st century terrarium.
Hayes first created her terrariums in 2003 as table-top sized vessels to be tended to with love and devotion. They have since evolved over time, increasing in scale to five foot tall hand blown glass and 15 feet wide cast acrylic forms that encapsulate intricate and crystal landscapes.
The collaborative spirit at the core of this work, through its engineering, fabrication and eventual caretaking with others, is the ultimate intention. The moment by moment, physical objectify-able beauty is actually a reflection of the ongoing interaction embodied in its concept.
