Item Description
There's absolutely nothing like a locally foraged mushroom. Just ask Sandra Wyman, the Maine Mushroom Forager, who has agreed to generously donate 2 lbs of foraged Maine Chicken of the Woods mushrooms. The mushrooms may be delivered frozen or cooked to the lucky winning bidder.
The texture and taste of this mushroom is much like that of cooked chicken, hence its name. Chicken of the woods mushrooms combine well with meat and poultry dishes. Pair with fresh herbs, potatoes, apples, pasta or rice. Chicken of the woods mushrooms will stand up to cooking and may be baked or roasted as well as sauteed. Mediterranean cuisines have always appreciated this mushroom and favor it in many of their dishes. Vegetarians may find it to be a satisfying meat substitute in their diet.
You cannot find these mushrooms in stores, so this item is a real treat and delicacy. Chicken of the Woods are not yet able to be commercially cultivated, so they can only be found in the wild. Bid on this item and expand your horizons!
Item Special Note
Item includes cooking instructions. Mushrooms may be delivered within a 15 mile radius of Portland. Winning bidder may choose to receive either cooked or frozen mushrooms. Mushrooms will keep for one year before consuming.
