Item Description
A beautiful piece of semi-transparent pale green jadeite, weighing almost 5 ounces (139.7 grams.)
Jade has been considered more valuable than gold and silver to Chinese culture because of its high moral value. Those who have jade are said to be rich in virtue because of the solid and durable nature of the stone. Specific patterns such as bats and gourds, have increased the stone's spiritual value, since these symbols represent good fortune in Chinese culture.
Now, we admit that we're not 100% sure what this lovely carving represents. We've had the certificate of authenticity translated for us by a Hong Kong firm, and a copy of that is attached here. Our best guess (after much 'googling') is that this carving is a stylized 'pak choi' or 'bok choy', which is meant to bring prosperity. In the world of Feng Shui, this is a 'wealth energizer.'
We just think it's beautiful.
