Item Description
"Yumper"
4 x 6 inches, framed by artist
Acrylic on board, 2011
Anthony Ausgang is celebrated as a pioneer of the pop culture movement known as Lowbrow. His tripped-out, surrealistic narratives feature cartoon characters in exaggeratedly provocative situations. Last year, one of Ausgang's paintings was chosen as the album cover for psych-rock duo MGMT's new record Congratulations, released on Columbia. Ausgang's last solo show in November was at Santa Monica's CoproGalley in Bergamot Station and drew the A-list of the alternative art, music and performing communities. He also has a monograph of his work through 9mm Books, Vacation from Reality: The Art of Anthony Ausgang.
