Kathleen was raised in a small town in southern LA. She earned a BFA in Painting, and a BS in Art Education from Louisiana State University. An MS in Arts Administration from Bank Street College and Parsons School of Design brought her to NYC, which has been home for over 25 years. She is president and co-founder of the South of the Navy Yard Artists (SONYA).

Recently Hayek was invited to include her work, Revelation, in the Goloborotko’s Studio 20th Anniversary Edition, an internationally acclaimed 40 count portfolio of 13 original hand pulled prints by artists who have worked with the Studio, now in Red Hook, Brooklyn, over its first 20 years.
