Item Description

Delight the Rays fan in your life with this baseball autographed by Rays center fielder B.J. Upton!

Upton was drafted second overall in the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft by Tampa Bay. He made his major league debut on August 2, 2004, becoming the youngest Ray ever and the youngest player in the major leagues in 2004. Since 2007, Upton has been the Rays' starting center fielder. In 2008, Upton was part of the American League Champion Tampa Bay Rays. Upton hit 7 home runs in the Rays' 2008 post-season. Recent career highlights include:

  • Upton became just the fifth center fielder in AL history to reach 60 extra-base hits and 40 steals in one season in 2010. He and Carl Crawford were the only major leaguers to do it in 2010 and the first set of teammates to ever do it.
  • Upton is the only major leaguer to total at least 100 stolen bases and 100 doubles over the past three years (2008-10).
  • Upton has made 147 starts and has started 518 of 581 games since first playing CF on July 13, 2007.
  • Upton enters 2011 with the most hits (633) by a righthanded hitter in club history. He is 3rd overall behind lefties Carl Crawford (1,480) and Aubrey Huff (870).
  • Upton batted .364 in 2009, 5th best among AL players and had a .316 career average vs. the NL prior to 2010.
  • Upton has 36 outfield assists since 2007, 8 more than any other center fielder in the majors.
