Additional Information:  This fascinating painting was inspired by Laura Kennedy’s travels through Morocco.  Kennedy believed these to be “spirit figures,” though they could be interpreted differently.  One of the most interesting aspects of Kennedy’s work is that the subject matter often appears different, depending upon who is viewing it.

About the Artist:  Laura Kennedy (1919 – 2010) was a fine artist, an actress, singer, pianist, world traveler, playwright, founder of The Realm Playwrights Group, and published author.  Originally from Claverack, NY, she lived in numerous fascinating places including Asuncion, Paraguay; Quito, Ecuador; Kent, England; the south of France; and Macau.  She also she traveled extensively to such places as Bali, Morocco, Hong Kong, and Istanbul.  Inspired by all she had seen and experienced, she turned to art as a form of self-expression and studied painting at the Corcoran College of Art and Design.  She had numerous shows around the world, including Aix en Provence, the Casino in Monaco, Palm Beach, and Washington, D.C.  Her work is found in the collections of many private art connoisseurs.
