Joe Goode was born in Oklahoma City in 1937. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles. He attended the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. Over the last 50 years, he has shown in galleries from New York to Los Angeles, Tokyo to London. His work has been shown at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and many more. Goode’s work will be featured in Pomona College Museum of Art’s presentation of It Happened at Pomona: Art at the Edge of Los Angeles 1969–1973 as part of the Getty Foundation’s Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945-1980 initiative
His work can be found in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Gallery in London, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, The Menil Collection, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
