Michael Kelly is a first year MFA painting candidate at UCLA. He grew up in Huntington Beach, California before earning his BFA in painting at Brigham Young University. After undergraduate work, he spent 2 years working as a mental health worker, youth mentor, and art teacher to teens in residential substance abuse treatment before moving to Los Angeles for graduate study. His work is currently a negotiation between his practice as abstract painter, and his part of the converging world of content creators and consumers in a YouTube driven socially-networked world. He has shown continually across the western states since 1999, and his work can be found in numerous private collections nationwide. He and his wife Kim reside in West Los Angeles.
