Justin Baldwin was born in Kansas in January 1974. He received his BFA in painting with academic distinction at the University of Kansas in 1996. He spent the next four years living and working in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, as a JET program English Instructor. From 1997 to 2005 his work was exhibited in galleries, festivals and participated in art events in Japan 10 times; it was also in this period when Baldwin worked for the Kurashiki Board of Education.

Baldwin has been living, working and making art every day in New York since 2006. Recent works include Open Daybook Exhibition, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions; Snapshots & Afterthoughts, Cell Gallery Okayama; Art Party II, Lamp Residence Tamashima, Okayama; Made in Japan, Hiroshima.
