Item Description
MUSIC OF MYTHIC PROPORTIONS
Orpheus was an ancient Greek musician and poet who charmed every living being with his music. Even the harshest of Gods and critics could not stay in a bad mood when he played. His career ended badly, though, when he lost his wife to the underworld and ran into an angry mob of women who tore him to bits. But, reportedly, his severed head kept singing beautifully. And, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra that bears his name today continues the tradition of charming audiences through music. The 2011-2012 Season includes timeless works by Brahms, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky as well as more recent works by Copland, Bernstein, and others. This is the stuff of legends, and you’ll have two prime seats.
