Item Special Note

Beta Israel of North America (BINA) is a cultural and social organization that focuses on issues addressing Ethiopian Jews in the US, Israel and Ethiopia and founded by Ethiopian Jews.  The organization has been in operation since 2001, developing cultural programs and events that address the history and culture of Ethiopian Jews and Ethiopia at large.

The Sheba Film Festival is the first in the United States that celebrates the history and culture of the Ethiopian Jewish community.  Its main goal is to educate New Yorkers about the Ethiopian Jewish culture, to address the negative images of Ethiopia and to promote the history and culture of the people of Ethiopia.

Over the years the Festival has introduced thousands of New Yorkers to the Ethiopian Jewish community as well as providing greater insight on the culture and peoples of Ethiopia.  The annual Sheba Film Festival is our flagship cultural showcase and features films from a diverse array of filmmakers about Ethiopia, Ethiopian Jews, and Jews of color to encourage greater understanding
