Item Description
Created by Safed, Israel woodworker, Jacob Yellin. This beautifully crafted mezuzah is made of black walnut wood, has fine brass hardware and a magnet to rotate the mezuzah on its axis. The rolled-up parchment is visible. Says the donor, curator Laura Kruger, "The magnet is an example of how artists who create hand crafted work are now incorporating contemporary technology. There is probably some midrash addressing the suspension of prayer in space....."
Signed by the artist, this 41st of only 324 such mezuzot, was made in the Hebrew calendar year TASHNA (noted on the back), corresponding to 1991.
Top to bottom this mezuzah measures 9 1/2 inches and it would enhance any indoor doorway. It comes with detailed installation instructions and two brass screws.
